You are the light of the world

Have you ever experienced a sense of fear or unease in darkness? It is natural to feel this way, as darkness can bring with it a sense of terror and the potential for evil which is why the Bible tells us that God has set authorities in place to govern the day and the night.
In Genesis 1:14-18, we are told that God created the sun, moon, and stars to separate the day from the night and to shine down on the earth. God's purpose for the sun is to shine light and drive out darkness, and for the moon to reflect the light of the sun during the night. This is similar to the way in which Christ, as the light of the world, and the church, shine to drive out darkness. The moon represents human institutions, which are put in place to deal with evil.
When believers refuse to shine as the light of the world, the moon, which represents human institutions, cannot shine either. The moon does not produce its own light, but rather reflects the light of the sun. If God's children do not take their place as the light of the world and shine, the world will be filled with darkness. Then there will always be terror, fear, and evil.
As Christians, it is our responsibility to shine the light of Christ in every aspect of our lives. When we do this, we can bring joy, strength, and purpose to those around us, even in the darkest of times. So let us embrace our role as the light of the world and let our light shine brightly before all men.
PRAYER: “Oh God, our Father, ever blessed, who has given me the night for rest and the day for labor and service. Grant that as the sun rises, I will be reminded of the light You have made me on earth by Your word. And as the night comes, let me be reminded of my position in this earth as a star to shine and moon to reflect Your Word where ever I find myself in Jesus name. Amen”
