Who we need, What we need is the Holy Spirit

Friends, let me clear with you, we can not do anything the Lord wants us to do without the Holy Spirit. Make no mistake about it. We can not!

God knows our hearts better than we do. And He is truthful than we are to ourselves. He understands our weaknesses better than we do. He isn’t trying to get us to live and walk in His ways by our strength and might. This is why all these videos and podcasts and programs aren’t really changing us.

We need the Holy Spirit. I can’t emphasize that enough.

In Ezekiel 36:26, the Lord said, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”

He said to Jeremiah, “But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” (Jeremiah 31:33)

In Hebrews 8:10, the Apostle reminds us of this covenant.

I know that in today’s world, everyone wants to be your God. Everyone wants you to follow them and listen to them always and do what they say. From Youtubers to preachers to friends. Everyone, including myself. But what you truly need is the Holy Spirit in your heart.

He will lead you into all truth. He will lead you in the path of righteousness. He will teach you all things. He will help you discern between good and evil. And He will empower and help you.

I can tell you so many things, but I can’t be inside of you and give you the power to do them or be what you know you have to be. These Youtubers can’t. No man can! The Apostle Paul said, “The good I want to do, I can’t do them”.

Paul didn’t say, “The good I want to do, I don’t know what it is. So I need to walk more Youtube or Tiktok videos. Or even follow more preachers”. He knew what He wanted to do just like most of us. We have read so much, heard so much…we continue to add to our knowledge every day, yet we do so little. Why? We lack within us the power to be and the power to do. That power is the Holy Spirit of God.

We think we need something or some things. Like a vacation, or a marriage, or a job. All these are good. But what we really need is a person - the person of the Holy Spirit. The very Spirit of Christ. We need Him to fill our hearts daily. That’s the power we need to be the Christians we have to be, the husbands and wives God wants to be, the people God saved us to be. This is how we walk in love. This is how we walk in joy. This is how we walk in peace.
