What is the Sovereignty of God?

[Daniel 4:35 NKJV]
35 All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand or say to Him, "What have You done?"
Nebuchadnezzar was the most powerful man on earth.
King of Babylon. Conqueror of nations. Builder of empires. He stood on his palace roof, looked over the sprawling city he had built, and declared: "Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?"
The words were still in his mouth when judgment fell.
A voice from heaven: "The kingdom has departed from you."
Within hours, Nebuchadnezzar lost his mind. He was driven from his throne, lived like an animal in the fields, ate grass like cattle. His hair grew like eagles' feathers. His nails like birds' claws.
Seven years passed.
Then his sanity returned. And the first thing he did was look up and bless the Most High.
"All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand or say to Him, 'What have You done?'"
Sovereignty means God has absolute authority and control over all things. Nothing happens outside His Word. No one can thwart His purposes. No circumstance catches Him off guard.
This is either terrifying or comforting, depending on whether you trust His character.
If God is sovereign but not good, you have tyranny. If God is good but not sovereign, you have impotence.
But Scripture declares He is both. Absolutely powerful. Absolutely good.
Where in your life are you wrestling with God's sovereignty? What circumstance feels out of control?
Nothing is outside His hand.
May the grace of God through Christ be with you.
