What is the Omnipresence of God?

[Psalm 139:7-10 NKJV]
7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.
You cannot outrun God.
Go to the heights, He's there. Descend to the depths, He's there. Fly to the farthest edge of the sea, His hand will find you.
David wasn't describing escape routes. He was describing the inescapable presence of God.
Omnipresence means God is fully present everywhere, at all times. Not spread thin. Not partially present in one place while distracted elsewhere. Fully, completely, attentively present in every location simultaneously.
This is not how we experience reality. You are in one place at one time. You can only focus on one thing at a moment. Your attention is limited. Your presence is local.
God is not like this.
He is as fully present with you right now as He is with every other person on earth. He is as attentive to your current struggle as He was to Moses at the burning bush, to David in the wilderness, to Paul in prison.
You do not compete for His attention.
But here's the tension: this truth is either deeply comforting or deeply uncomfortable, depending on what you're doing.
If you're suffering, omnipresence means you are not alone. God is with you in the valley.
If you're sinning, omnipresence means you are not hidden. God sees everything.
David understood both. In the same psalm where he celebrated God's inescapable presence, he also prayed: "Search me, O God, and know my heart... See if there is any wicked way in me."
He didn't run. He invited examination.
Where are you trying to hide from God?
May the grace of God through Christ be with you.
