We must believe God's Word.

I was asked quite recently what I think the problem of this country is; whether it is with cancerous leadership or the irresponsible citizenry. I replied, “the lack of knowledge instead”. The response by the questioner was, “yeah right! Scripture even says ‘the lack of knowledge my people perish’.

But in your own view what is really the problem? I laughed. “My view doesn’t matter if it’s not the view of the Bible. That’s the only standard of wisdom and the only true authority of knowledge and moral life. So far as we value and respect man’s wisdom and words beyond God’s words, our state will never get better”, I said. This is why many people are still in our mess, poverty, sickness and struggles.

Hebrews 4:2 says, “for good news came to us just as to them but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they didn’t mix it with faith”. We hardly believe His words to us, that’s our problem. The good news (gospel) is all you need. You may ask why I didn’t reply the question by saying ‘faith’ then. Faith comes by knowledge. It comes hearing and hearing the word of God. (Rom 10:17). And God sends you faith, by sending you His word, by sending a preacher so you can see, believe and receive all His Grace has done for you.

Romans 10:14-15 says, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And can anyone preach unless they are sent?”. Check the things the world is filled with and the things (books, songs, movies, media posts, etc.) we take interest in and we will find out how less they contribute to your faith. And that’s our only problem. God’s word will fix us if we will accept it by faith.
