Walking in obedience is loving God

Friends, something has been on my heart for a while now, and I want to share it with you. We live in a generation that says if you believe in God, if you believe in Christ, perhaps if you go to church, you are a Christian. But do we love God? Do we truly love Christ?
I personally believe that we don't love God if we don't walk in obedience. Jesus said in John 14:15, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” He didn’t say, “Obey me, so I’ll love you.” No. He said, “If you love me, you WILL obey me.” Obedience flows out of love. It’s not forced. It’s not reluctant. It’s a willing response to the One who first loved us.
Look at Jesus. The Son of God, perfect, holy, sinless, chose obedience, even when it cost Him everything. Philippians 2:8 says, “He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Why? Because of love. Love for the Father. Love for you.
That’s the kind of obedience we’re called to. Not out of fear. Not out of obligation. But out of a love so strong that we trust God even when it doesn’t make sense. Like Abraham, who obeyed God and was willing to sacrifice Isaac. Did he understand why? No. But did he love God enough to trust Him? Yes.
That’s what real obedience looks like. It says, “Lord, I may not see the whole picture, but I trust You. I love You more than my doubts. More than my comfort. More than my own understanding.”
And here’s the truth: obedience leads to blessing. Deuteronomy 28:1-2 says, “If you fully obey the Lord your God… all these blessings will come upon you and overtake you.”
God isn’t looking for robots. He’s looking for hearts that burn with love for Him. Hearts that obey, not because they have to, but because they want to. Because they know that every command He gives is for our good.
So today, choose obedience. Not as a burden, but as an act of love. Because love doesn’t just speak, it acts.
1 John 5:3 says, “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.”
When you love God, obedience isn’t heavy. It’s freedom. It’s trust. It’s love in action.
