Understanding God's Perfect Plan for Our Lives

Have you ever told someone with seemingly unanswered prayers or unresolved issues that "well, we never know God's thoughts or plans"? I used to do this as a way to comfort them and encourage them not to worry. But I later realized that, even though we may not always understand the specifics of God's thoughts and plans for us, He actually wants us to know that His plan is perfect for our good, perfect for giving us hope and a great future, and perfect for prospering us.
In Jeremiah 29:11, God says, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." This should give us something to think about. Whatever is harming us today is not part of God's plan for us. He wants us to be well, to succeed, and to prosper. Many of us are afraid of our future, but God's perfect plan takes that into account as well.
David writes in Psalm 127:2, "It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones." Solomon is not advocating for laziness here, but he does recognize that "The blessing of the Lord, it makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it" (Proverbs 10:22). To David, our lives are meaningless if we allow our worries about money, health, work, family, and the future to steal our rest. We can have assurance of purpose and hope, because God's plan for our lives is perfect and meant to prosper us and give us a great future.
PRAYER: “I know today that You have a plan for my life, Heavenly Father. Thank You that Your plans for me are plans of good and not of evil. I may not understand all my situations but I trust Your perfect plan for my life. I will rest and not worry because Christ has already overcome the world for my sake in Jesus name. Amen.”
