The Power of Focused Faith: A Lesson from Peter Walking on Water

Imagine being in the boat with Peter as he saw Jesus walking on the water and being asked to come. What would you have said as a loving and caring friend? "Peter, you're being too reckless" or "Peter, it's not possible, you'll sink"? Peter, however, was bold and disregarded everything else, focusing solely on the word of Christ: "Come!" And he saw himself walking on the water. Peter cruised across the sea as if he were walking on solid ground.

But suddenly, Peter began to sink. What happened? His courage and faith in Jesus were wavering as he saw the waves getting stronger. It wasn't Jesus who wasn't faithful, but rather Peter who lost his faith in Jesus. Peter didn't need to see a path in the water like the Israelites before believing. Sometimes, having faith means believing in something you have never seen or heard done before. He took the first step at Jesus' word and nothing was impossible for him. But that wasn't enough. A true measure of a person's faith is not just the initial step, but the steps that follow.

Perhaps God has given you a vision, a dream, or a promise through His word. Initially, it seemed possible and you were confident and excited about it, but now things seem different. The winds of failure, lack, sickness, sin, difficulty, and discouragement may be blowing and threatening to sink your faith in God's word. Don't let anything touch your faith. Stay focused, remain confident in God's word, and keep moving forward.

PRAYER: *“Thank You for the gift of faith, Heavenly Father. I choose to be focused and remain confident in Your word. As You held Peter’s faith in You, I ask that You hold me steadfast in You also. I declare that I will not look back or back away. I declare that I will serve You with my household forever in Jesus name. Amen!”*
