The Beautiful Paradoxes of the Christian Life

Ever thought about how strange the Christian life can seem? It’s like living in a continuum of paradoxes. Like, for real! Think about this: We’re told we are free, completely set free by Christ. But at the same time, we are bondservants to God’s will. Jesus says, “The last shall be first.” Wait, what? The last shall be first? Scripture says, He who knew no sin became sin for us. We are told, “there is much blessing in giving than receiving”. How? We actually losing something, yet the Bible tells us “we are gaining”.
Luke 9:24–25 tells us that “*For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.” Think about it - How do you lose your life, yet save it, and save your life, yet lose it?*
You see, the Kingdom of God flips the script on everything the world thinks is normal. The Christian life is a beautiful paradox where things that don’t seem to belong together somehow work perfectly in God’s plan.
In Genesis 39, Joseph is sold as a slave to Potiphar, in fact, he was first sold by his own brothers, yet we are told in verse 2, that “God was with Joseph and He blessed him”. You watched him being sold and did nothing. Why? I guess because God was with him, it didn’t matter was done to him. It didn’t matter what happened to. He was blessed regardless. He was prosperous regardless. He was successful regardless.
Friends, this is our story. It doesn’t matter what life throws at us if God is with us. If God is for us, who can be against us?
