Seek for wisdom. Give up everything to get it.

Seek for wisdom. Give up everything to get it. “For wisdom is better than rubies; And all desirable things cannot compare with her.” (Proverbs 8:11). Do not forsake wisdom, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will guard you. (Proverbs 4:6)

The youth today likes things of love and money more than wisdom. But the source of wealth and real love is right knowledge, understanding and wisdom. Wisdom determines what you do, why you do it and how well you do it. Wisdom determines how you love, who you love, why you love, what you love and even when you love. Wisdom will protect your heart, enrich your love, and make your relationship and marriage beautiful.

You can have a tall list of what you want in a person or you can have just one thing you want in a person, which is wisdom. If you get someone with wisdom, you get what you really need. If you get all you want on the list and don’t get one with wisdom, you really have nothing. In wisdom, you will find someone who fears and loves God. In wisdom, you will find respect and kindness. In wisdom, you will find godliness, maturity and true love.

Solomon said, "Wisdom is of utmost importance, therefore get wisdom, and with all your effort work to acquire understanding" (Proverbs 4:7). He also said, "Acquire truth (and do not sell it), [that is,] acquire wisdom, discipline, and understanding." (Proverbs 23:23).

Acquire it from where? Firstly, acquire it from the Lord and His word. Spend quality time to know His word and understand Him. After knowing His word, obey the word. Wisdom is obedience, not just knowing.

Secondly, acquire it from wise people. Spend money on good books and read. Spend time reading posts from wise people. Listen and watch videos of wise people. Cherish the company of the wise and walk away from fools. Scripture says, “Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.” (Proverbs 13:20)

Thirdly, acquire wisdom from instructors - from the aged/elderly and parents. Job 12:12 says, “Is not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding?”

Lastly, acquire wisdom from your experiences and that of others. Your past is only a waste if you refuse to learn from it. Learn from the past and learn from history. Those who refuse to learn from history are bound to repeat it. Your past is a teacher, learn from it.
