Laugh a lot. Seriously!

Laugh a lot. Seriously! Proverbs 17:22 says, "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."

God designed us to live by joy and faith. Not stress. Not fear. Not endless anxiety. David said, "You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore" (Psalm 16:11). That’s what God wants for us, fullness of joy, not a life weighed down by worry and stress.

The Scripture is rebuking this bad habit of us, living with a crushed spirit is dangerous. A broken heart, a discouraged soul, an unhappy mind, they dry us up. They rob us of strength. They make us sick. But joy? Laughter? A cheerful heart? That’s life-giving. That’s healing to our soul, mind and body. Nehemiah 8:10 says, "The joy of the Lord is your strength."

Of course, science backs it up. Science tells us that laughter reduces stress, boosts immunity, and improves our health. But long before doctors discovered this, God had already told us: "A cheerful heart is good medicine."

Now, let's be clear, this isn't about fake happiness or ignoring life's struggles. The world chases temporary highs, money, success, entertainment. But all of that fades. True, unshakable joy comes from God's presence.

Life can be tough, I know that. Disappointments, losses, delays, I get it. But when we allow discouragements, disappointments, frustrations, and unhappiness to become our state of being, it drains our energy, we lose interest in everything, it steals our peace, and eventually it will affect our health and even our relationships. That is what the Bible is warning us against.

David said in Psalm 3:5-6, "I lay down and slept; I woke up, for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around."

Listen, I don’t know what’s coming against you. Maybe it feels like ten thousand things. But David slept. He rested. He rejoiced. He danced. He prayed. God sustained him. God will sustain you too.

So laugh again. Dance. Rejoice. Be happy. And live!
