Jehovah Tsidkenu, The Lord Our Righteousness

[Jeremiah 23:6 NKJV]
6 In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely; now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
You cannot make yourself righteous.
No matter how hard you try. No matter how many rules you keep. No matter how disciplined, how devoted, how pure your intentions.
Isaiah said it plainly: "All our righteousnesses are like filthy rags." Even your best efforts, stained, insufficient, unable to bridge the gap between you and a holy God.
This is the problem every religion tries to solve. Work harder. Do more. Perform better. Climb the ladder. Earn acceptance.
But Jehovah Tsidkenu (יְהוָה צִדְקֵנוּ) offers something completely different: The LORD Our Righteousness.
Not righteousness through our effort. Righteousness from Him.
Jeremiah spoke this name in the context of Israel's failure. They had broken covenant after covenant. They had chased idols, exploited the poor, ignored the prophets. By every measure, they deserved judgment.
But God promised a coming King, one who would not merely model righteousness, but become righteousness for His people.
Paul would later write: "God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God."
At the cross, the exchange happened. Jesus took your sin. You receive His righteousness. Not as a reward for performance. As a gift received by faith.
This means you stand before God clothed not in your own filthy rags, but in the perfect righteousness of Christ.
Stop trying to earn what has already been given.
May the grace of God through Christ be with you.
