God's goodness and mercy are with us always.

Some people view the Christian life as a bed of roses, others see it as a battlefield. The first group says, “Because of Christ, I’ll never be sick, or poor, or have problems.” The second group says, “well, Job had troubles. No one has more trouble than Job.” For David, whether he falls sick or go through dark times, or not, his revelation was; "The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.

He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters. He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him – not for my earning it, but] for His name's sake. Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil; my [brimming] cup runs over. Surely for only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place." (Psalm 23:1-6 AMP)

When his back was to the wall financially, he had a Shepherd who was God-Jehovah Jireh, the Lord provides. When he felt ill, he had Jehovah Rapha, the great physician who heals. Even when he abused his kingship, and took what belonged to someone, he felt to the ground and cried to His Lord - EL Rachum, the Merciful.

The Lord was his Shepherd and is our Shepherd too. Doesn't it excite you to know that God's goodness and mercy are with you always and you are always under His care and protection. The Lord is your Shepherd!
