God refreshes the weary and satisfy the weak

David said, "He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters." (Psalm 23:2). He reveals that God is our caretaker; seeing to it that we have what we need in life. It might not always be what we think we need, but we can trust that He knows better. We do not have a need that He will not meet and because of that, we can rest in this stressful world.

David didn't say, He makes him stress for "greener pastures". He didn't say, He will take him abroad to look for "greener pastures". He said, "He makes me lie down in green pastures". That's how blessed and prosperous he was because God was his Shepherd. Sheep only drink from still waters. Sheep are afraid of moving/turbulent water, because if they fall in, their coat of wool will soak up the water and pull them to the bottom.

If the water is moving, the shepherd will have to cause the water to be quiet and still so that the sheep can drink from it and be refreshed. This is the Lord we have. So, in all things, remind yourself that "The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack. He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters. He refreshes and restores my life (myself); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him – not for my earning it, but] for His name's sake.", David says. (Psalm 23:1-4 AMP).

Notice “He refreshes us and restores us”. Jeremiah 31:25-26 puts it this way, "I will refresh the weary and satisfy the weak”. God has promised to refresh us when we are weary and restore us when we are weak and sorrowful. Also, He leads us in the path of righteousness because of the reputation of His name.
