Get the Truth and Sell it not

You ever stop and ask yourself, “Man, how is this thing I am reading true? How is this thing I am saying or writing true? This thought I have about myself, this thought I have about this person, how is it true? This thing I have believed about life, about God, about others, how are they true?
Isn't it obvious to you by now that deception is our biggest enemy, whether it's self-deception or someone trying to make you believe a lie about yourself, or others, or about life or God.
I think the worst thing we can allow to happen to us is to be deceived. A simple question like "How is this true" could change everything, and yet we don't seem to care about seeking the truth, because there are things we want to be true. Not because they are true, but because we just want them to be true. We fear that If there were not true, we might have to change our actions, or our words, or even our worldview. That's deep in hearts scary. We don’t want to be wrong. But maybe we are.
And for Christians, this should hit different. Jesus literally said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Meaning, we are never free without knowing the Truth. Think about that. Truth and continuous learning is the most important value I think in life. Because what good is faith if it’s not true? What good is hope if it’s not true? What good is love if it’s not true?
Remember Jesus on the cross? He looked at the people killing him and said, “Father, forgive them, they don’t know what they do.” Like what? They beat you naked, spat on, nailed you to the cross, and they didn’t know what they were doing? But Jesus was more about the truth, and He knew that they were only doing that because of the lies they had believed. They were told that Jesus was operating with an evil spirit and he was blaspheming against God, and he wanted to be a king, and they believed it and killed him.
Many of the things we do in life is because of the lies we believe. And who makes us believe them doesn't really matter. But why we believe them, that's who we are. If you are full of hate, you see everything you don't like as hateful.
Jesus said, "Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body is full of darkness. Be careful, then, that the light within you is not darkness."- Luke 11:34-36
I really believe that if there is one thing Christ will have us do, especially in these times, is to “Get the truth and never sell it; also get wisdom, discipline, and good judgment.” (Proverbs 23:23).
