Equipped for Battle 2

Equipped for Battle 2

Anchor text:

Ephesians 6:10-18

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

INTRODUCTION

It's important to know the enemy that fights us but it's more important to know the King we fight for.

It's vital to stand against an attack but it's more important to take a stand and fight for something.

Today, I encourage you not just to withstand and stand against the attack of the Devil but to stand and fight for God! Fight for righteousness. Fight for peace. Fight for change. Fight for souls.

MESSAGE:
DAVID TOOK A STAND FOR THE LORD WHEN GOLIATH TOOK A STAND FOR HIS PEOPLE AND THEIR GODS. (1 Samuel 17:16)

Text: 1 Samuel 17:32-40
1. Like David, our private battles are preparing us for national battles. And we overcome by the words of our testimony. (Rev. 12:11)

  1. Like David, we must fight the devil in the way we are used to. (1 Samuel 17:39).

A. David just wanted to stick to what works for him.

B. David didn't want to look like Goliath because you can't win against them if you look like them. (Goliath was dressed in anyway similar to the armour Saul gave David - 1 Sam. 17:5)

  1. When you want to fight for God, people will be angry with you. 1 Samuel 17:26-27
  1. The King has a reward for those who fight for Him. Likewise, there is a reward for those who stand and fight for God. (Hebrews 6:10, 1 Peter 5:4)
  1. Just as David took Goliath sword to God's house so must we bring God our gains. (1 Samuel 21:8-10)

THE MIGHTY MEN OF DAVID

Scripture: 2 Samuel 23:8-39

Josheb-Basshebeth, a Tahkemonite - He raised his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter.

Eleazar son of Dodai, the Ahohite - He killed Philistines until his hand was too tired to lift his sword, and the LORD gave him a great victory that day. The rest of the army did not return until it was time to collect the plunder!

Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. - The Philistines had gathered together into a troop where there was a piece of ground full of lentils. So the people fled from the Philistines. But he stationed himself in the middle of the field, you defended it, and killed the Philistines. So the Lord brought about a great victory.

CONCLUSION

God needs mighty warriors who will take a stand and fight for Him in this generation. He is seeking for mighty warriors who will take a stand and fight for His people, for the unsaved, for righteousness, for peace, for justice - will you be God's mighty warrior in this generation? Will you take a stand and fight for God and for His people in this generation? This is not a fight against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Will you take a stand and fight for a godly course? Will you take a stand and fight for God and His children?
