Be determined to believe God

Can you imagine being told in your 90s that you will have a child who will inherit you and be blessed? How would you react? Would you even believe it? Abraham faced a similar situation (confirm; Genesis 17:1-2), but he understood that if God promised something, He would not require any unnecessary effort from him, nor would He evaluate whether Abraham deserved it or not.

Sometimes, like Sarah, we try to take matters into our own hands and push ourselves to make things happen. We think that if we can just do something to help God fulfill His promise, then it will come to pass. However, we often end up missing out on the true promise because we are not resting in God's faithfulness.

Abraham, on the other hand, believed in the God of the promise and rested in the assurance that if God said it, it was as good as done. Romans 4:19-20 says that Abraham's faith was strong, and he did not doubt God's promise. As a result, he was made right with God and received the promise.

In contrast, we can look at the story of Adam and Eve, who chose to believe the devil's lies instead of God's promise. God had given them everything they needed, but the devil convinced them that they needed to know good and evil to be like God. This is what sin is about- anything without faith. God intended for us to live by faith in Him and depend on His goodness, but we fell short of His glory when we chose not to believe Him.

Therefore, we should be determined to believe in God and His promises, just like Abraham. We can rest in His faithfulness and trust that if He said it, He will bring it to pass.

PRAYER: “O Precious and Righteous Father, thank You for Your gift of Righteousness. Without giving me Your righteousness as a gift, I don’t know how I could be righteous; my deeds failed, my efforts were futile. But Your grace has made me righteous by faith in Your Son, Jesus Christ. I ask also for the strength to forever hold onto this truth. I come against any guilt and condemnation in Jesus name.”
